Substance and Alcohol Resources

Substance use:

  • If you choose to use substances, know what is in it. It is not uncommon for drugs to be cut /laced with Fentanyl. You can request Fentanyl testing strips at https://health.colostate.edu/narcan-and-fentanyl-test-strips-request/. Consider carrying Narcan in case of an accidental overdose.
  • Fentanyl testing strips and Narcan are also located at the Health and Medical Center third floor Health Education and Prevention Services office and Mental Health Services waiting area Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.
  • The effect of sychedelics on your body and mind can be unpredictable: https://www.heretohelp.bc.ca/infosheet/safer-tripping-magic-mushrooms-lsd-and-other-hallucinogens Know that environment matters. You can’t control what may come up during a trip, and a highly stimulating environment like a concert could create an experience you don’t want while using.

Alcohol consumption:

  • Make your own drinking choices, drinking only if you want to and sticking with the limit you set for yourself.
  • Know how much alcohol is in your drink and never leave a drink unattended or accept a drink from someone you don’t know.
  • Eat a snack before, during, and after drinking and be sure to drink water.
  • Stay and leave with the same group of friends and designate a driver. Make a plan before the concert for how to get home safely.
  • Avoid mixing alcohol with medications, illegal drugs, or energy drinks.
  • Avoid drinking games.
  • Be 21 or older to avoid underage drinking legal issues.
