Welcome Middle School Students!

Colorado State University is excited to welcome the students (and teachers), from area middle schools, to learn about the world-class research institution in their own back yard!  Education is exciting at any age and we want to make sure we can serve your visit needs and educational goals while on campus. To make this possible, we have developed a visit program targeted to middle school students (grades 6th – 8th) that will provide students with a fun and engaging introduction to the opportunities higher education provides.

Each Visit includes

  • A self-guided tour, options include:
    • General Campus Tour, Academic Tour, Scavenger Hunt, Mystery of CSU History Tour, or the CSU Green Walking Tour
  • Complementary lunch in a residence hall dining center
  • CSU Expedition Sessions
  • CSU take-a-ways for all visitors

CSU Expedition Sessions

We know middle school is a great time to ‘dig deeper’ into school subjects and the university is a great place to explore those subjects in more detail.  Each visit includes a CSU Expedition session to provide visiting students the opportunity to connect with CSU students and programs. Each session runs for about one hour and are available on a ‘resource-available’ basis. (We can work with you to make sure you know what is available for your visit to campus.)  CSU Expedition session topics may include:

  • Life As a College Student – Current Student Panel
  • Brains & Braun – Life as a Student Athlete Panel
  • Turf Time with CSU Rams (Various Sports Activities on the Indoor Practice Field)
  • STEM Presentation and/or Activity
  • CSU Bug Zoo
  • Little Shop Of Physics
  • And More!

Planning Your Visit

We will work with your school group to understand your visit interests and help develop a schedule that meets your visit needs. Visits are available during the academic year (September – April) and are scheduled around your school day.  We require a minimum of 4 – 6 weeks in advance to prepare for the visits.  Group sizes are typically between 50 – 70 visitors. Larger groups require additional planning and approval. We will also provide logistical support before and during your visit, as well as, parking passes for buses. Local schools are giving priority in the scheduling process.
